Moving questions, answered straight

The things people ask us most before booking a move in Abu Dhabi, answered directly, with no runaround on price, timing or how the day works.

Pricing and quotes

Price and payment

Is the quote a fixed price or can it change on the day?

It is a fixed price, and it does not change on the day.

We quote one figure for the whole job after you send a short video of your home on WhatsApp. As long as what we move matches what you showed us, that is the price you pay. There is no hourly meter and nothing added once the truck is loaded. If you decide to add items after quoting, we tell you the new price before we start, not after. You can see how this works on our movers and packers page.

Why do you quote over WhatsApp instead of giving a price list?

Because every move is a different size, and a flat price list would either overcharge small moves or underquote big ones.

A one-bedroom apartment with a lift is a very different job from a fourth-floor walk-up packed with furniture. A short video lets us see the real volume, the access and the tricky items, so the price we give is accurate. It takes two minutes and saves you from a vague phone estimate that changes later.

Do you charge extra for stairs or a long carry to the truck?

Only if we know about it upfront and it is built into the fixed price, never as a surprise on the day.

Stairs, a long walk from the door to the truck, or a building with no service lift all add time and crew. We account for that when you show us the access in your video, so it is already inside the quote. What we will never do is agree a price and then ask for more cash on moving day because of stairs we could have planned for.

Is there a deposit, and when do I pay?

No large upfront deposit, and you settle once the move is done to your satisfaction.

We confirm your booking on your word and the agreed date, not on a big advance payment. Payment is taken on completion, once everything is delivered and placed at the new address. Tell us if you need a specific payment method and we will confirm what we accept when we quote.

Booking and timing

Scheduling your move

How far in advance should I book my move?

Two to three days is comfortable, but we handle same-day and next-day moves regularly.

Booking a few days ahead means you get first pick of time slots, which matters at month-end and on weekends when demand is highest. That said, if you need to move tomorrow, message us and we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than overpromising a slot we cannot keep.

Can you move in the evening or on a Friday or Saturday?

Yes. We work evenings and weekends, including Friday and Saturday, at no premium rate.

Many buildings in Abu Dhabi only allow moves during certain hours, and a lot of people can only move outside work time. We schedule around that. Tell us the window your building allows and the time that suits you, and we will fit the move into it.

What happens if my handover or new place is delayed last minute?

Message us as soon as you know and we will move the slot, there is no penalty for a genuine reschedule.

Handover delays and key handovers running late are normal in Abu Dhabi, and we plan for them. If your date shifts, we find you the next available slot that works. We would rather move your booking than have a truck and crew arrive at a home you cannot get into yet.

How long will my move take?

A studio or one-bedroom usually takes two to four hours, a villa can take most of a day.

The real drivers are the volume of furniture, how much dismantling is needed, and the access at both ends, lift versus stairs, and how far the truck parks from the door. When we quote from your video we give you a realistic time window so you can plan the rest of your day around it.

On the day

How moving day works

Do I need to be there during the whole move?

You need to be there at the start and the end, but not for every minute in between.

At the start you point out anything fragile or special and confirm what goes. At the new address you tell the crew where things belong. In between, while the team packs and loads, you are free to handle other parts of your day. If you cannot be present yourself, a family member or friend who can direct the crew is enough.

How do you protect floors, walls and doorways in the building?

We wrap furniture before it moves and carry it to avoid contact with walls, lift interiors and door frames.

Large pieces are padded and shrink-wrapped before they leave the room, so corners do not scrape paintwork or lift panels on the way out. This also keeps you on the right side of building management, who often inspect the lift and corridors after a move. Careful handling protects both your belongings and your deposit.

What will you not move?

We do not move hazardous items, and a few things are better moved by you personally.

For safety we do not transport gas cylinders, flammable liquids, paints or chemicals. We also recommend you carry passports, jewellery, cash and important documents with you rather than packing them in a box, simply so the things that are hard to replace stay in your own hands. Everything else in a normal home or office, we move.

What if something gets damaged during the move?

Tell the crew on the spot, and we deal with it directly rather than sending you in circles.

Our handling is built to avoid damage in the first place, wrapping, padding and careful loading. If something does go wrong, raise it with the team while they are still there so we can see it and sort it out. Being a registered local company, we are reachable and accountable after the move, not a number that stops answering.

Areas and buildings

Where we work and building access

How do you handle tower move permits and service lift booking?

We know the permit and service-lift rules tower by tower, and we plan the move around them.

Most Abu Dhabi towers require a move permit from building management and a booked time slot for the service lift, often with a refundable deposit. We tell you what your building needs and time the move to the lift slot so the crew is not left waiting. On the islands especially, where we do a lot of work in Al Reem Island and the surrounding communities, this planning is the difference between a smooth move and a wasted afternoon.

Which parts of Abu Dhabi do you cover?

The whole emirate, from the islands to the mainland communities.

That includes Al Reem, Saadiyat, Yas, Khalifa City, Al Rayyana, Al Raha, Al Reef, Mohamed Bin Zayed City and the rest. We also handle moves to other emirates within the UAE. If you are not sure whether your area is covered, send us the pickup and drop-off and we will confirm straight away.

Can you move a single item or a very small load?

Yes. We take single-item and small moves, not just full homes.

One wardrobe, a sofa, a fridge, or a few boxes between two addresses are all jobs we do. Small moves are priced as small moves, you are not pushed into a full-home rate for a handful of items. Send a photo or video of what needs moving and we will quote it. If it is furniture specifically, our furniture movers page explains how we handle the dismantling and rebuilding.

Do you move between Abu Dhabi and other emirates?

Yes, we handle moves from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, Sharjah and the rest of the UAE.

An intercity move is planned a little differently, we confirm the drop-off access and timing so the truck arrives when you can receive it. It is still one fixed price agreed before the day, covering the load, the transport and the unload and placement at the new home.

Furniture moving

Furniture, antiques and fragile pieces

What happens to the screws and fittings when you dismantle furniture?

They are bagged, labelled and kept with the piece they belong to, so nothing is lost.

When we take a wardrobe or bed apart, the bolts, brackets and fittings go straight into a labelled bag tied to that item. At the new home the same crew rebuilds it with its own hardware, which is why the piece goes back together solid rather than wobbling on mismatched screws. This is the detail that separates a real furniture crew from general movers.

Can you move antiques and high-value furniture safely?

Yes. Antique and high-value pieces are wrapped individually and, where needed, custom-crated.

Older and delicate furniture often cannot take the same handling as a flat-pack unit. We pad and wrap each piece on its own, move it separately from heavier items, and build a simple crate around anything that genuinely needs it. Point these pieces out at the start so the crew gives them the extra attention from the first lift.

How do you move glass tabletops, mirrors and marble?

Flat-packed in padded protection and carried upright, never laid flat under weight.

Glass and marble crack when they flex or take pressure across the middle. We wrap them, protect the corners, and move them upright so they stay rigid. Large mirrors and glass tops are handled as their own item, separate from the frame or base they sit on.

Do you wrap sofas and mattresses to keep them clean?

Yes. Soft furniture is covered before it leaves the room and stays covered until it is placed.

Fabric sofas, mattresses and upholstered chairs are wrapped to keep dust, marks and lift-door grime off them in transit. Mattresses go in covers so they are not dragged bare through a stairwell. The wrapping comes off only once the piece is in position at the new address.

Can you reassemble furniture bought from IKEA or other flat-pack brands?

Yes, and we know which flat-pack pieces should travel assembled and which must come apart first.

Particle-board furniture from IKEA, Home Centre, Pan Emirates and similar brands only tolerates being built once or twice before the joints weaken. We judge each piece, move sturdy ones whole and dismantle the rest properly, then rebuild them square. Our furniture movers page goes into this in more detail.

Packing

Packing, boxes and materials

How long does it take to pack a whole home?

A small apartment can be packed in a few hours, a full villa may take a day or be split over two.

It depends on how much there is and how much of it is fragile. Kitchens and glass take the longest because each item is wrapped individually. When you book packing we tell you whether it is a same-day job or something we start the day before the move so the loading stays on schedule. Full detail is on the packing and unpacking page.

Do you label the boxes so unpacking is easier?

Yes, every box is labelled by room and marked where it holds fragile items.

Labelling is what makes unpacking fast and stops boxes ending up in the wrong room. We mark each box with its room and flag the fragile ones so they are carried and opened with care. If you book unpacking too, the labels let us place everything straight back where it belongs.

Do you provide wardrobe boxes so clothes stay on their hangers?

Yes. Hanging clothes go straight into tall wardrobe boxes on the rail, not folded into bags.

Wardrobe boxes have a rail inside, so your hanging clothes travel upright and arrive ready to hang in the new closet, not creased at the bottom of a bag. They are part of the packing materials, included when you book packing, with no separate charge.

How do you pack a TV and other electronics?

Screens are wrapped, boxed and carried upright, with cables bundled and labelled for easy setup.

Flat-screen TVs are wrapped in padding and moved upright in a fitted box where possible, never laid face-down under other items. Cables are coiled and labelled so the setup goes back together the same way it came apart. If you still have the original TV box, keep it aside and we will use it.

Homes and offices

Villa, apartment and office moves

What is different about moving a villa compared with an apartment?

A villa has more rooms, heavier furniture and often a garden, so it needs a bigger crew and more planning.

Villas usually mean wardrobes in every bedroom, large living and dining sets, appliances, and sometimes outdoor furniture and plants. We bring the right size team and vehicle so it is done in one organised run rather than dragging across days. The move is still one fixed price agreed beforehand.

Do you move office furniture and IT equipment?

Yes, and we usually schedule office moves after hours or over a weekend to avoid downtime.

Workstations, partitions, desks, meeting tables and storage are dismantled, labelled and rebuilt in the same layout at the new office. Computers and screens are wrapped and their cables labelled so the setup is quick. The aim is that staff walk into a working office, not a room full of boxes.

Can you move appliances like fridges, washing machines and ovens?

Yes. Large appliances are secured for transport and set back in place at the new home.

Fridges, washers and ovens are heavy and awkward, and they need to travel upright and secured so nothing inside is damaged. We move them as part of the home move and set them back in position at the new address. For plumbed or hard-wired connections, let us know in advance so we plan for it.

Storage and trust

Storage, licensing and trust

Can you store my things if there is a gap between my move-out and move-in dates?

Yes, short-term storage can be arranged when your dates do not line up.

If you have to be out of the old place before the new one is ready, we can hold your belongings and deliver them when you are ready to move in. Tell us how many days the gap is when you ask for your quote, so we can plan the storage and the second delivery into one clear price.

Are you a licensed moving company?

Yes. Expert Furniture Movers LLC is a UAE-registered company, not an informal operator.

Using a registered local mover means there is a real business standing behind your move, reachable before and after the day, rather than a one-off crew you cannot trace if something goes wrong. You can read more about how we work on our about page.

How do I know my furniture is in good hands?

Look at the reviews and the fact that much of our work is repeat customers and referrals.

We hold a strong rating on Google from Abu Dhabi households and offices, and a lot of our bookings come from people who moved with us once and called again, or were recommended by someone who did. Careful furniture handling is the reason, it is the work we are named for and do every day.

How do I get a quote and book?

Send a short WhatsApp video of your home, get a fixed price back, and confirm the date.

It is the fastest way to an accurate price. Message us on WhatsApp or call, show us what needs moving and the access at both ends, and we reply with one fixed figure. Once it works for you, we lock in the date and time that suits your schedule.

Still have a question?

If your question is not here, just ask. Send a message on WhatsApp and a real person will answer, usually within minutes.
